OUR STORY
Family-Owned Farm
Since they were young, Marty and Nancy Ziegler dreamed of owning a farm. Life seemed to keep that dream at a distance. Raising their families and their careers came first. Marty’s career as a quality inspector for the Saturn booster rockets for NASA’s Apollo Space Program was followed by years at Hughes Aircraft. Nancy served as the Promotions Director for the Knoxville Christian Center for 30 years. Their lives were too busy for farming. After retiring, they finally found their dream farm and settled in Rutledge, TN in 2021. Inspired by Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms, their first summer on the farm was devoted to raising meat broilers. That first season they put over 400 lbs of chicken in their freezer! Later beautiful egg laying chickens were raised. Demand for Marty’s Meadow Poultry Farm chickens grew quickly. Today Marty’s Meadow Poultry Farm has highly sought after egg laying breeds, including colored egg layers. To them, it has all been worth the long wait.
