Buff Orpington Chickens are known for being an extremely gentle, friendly and docile bird that enjoys being held and follow their owners closely. Coupled with their ability to be dual-purpose, it is no wonder that they are such a popular breed. Egg production starts between 20and 24 weeks (5 to 6 months), which is typical of most breeds, but they can certainly start laying a few weeks early. You can expect 4+ large pinkish brown eggs a week. In their first year they can produce 200-280 eggs with proper diet and care. These birds are known for being disease resistant, but they are especially known for being cold-hardy. A lesser-known fact is that they are also heat tolerant. ***Also Available As An Assortment.
